How Jade-Emma-Greenslade died xx
A FAMILY and school are in shock after the sudden death of teenager Jade Greenslade.
The 14-year-old – described by her family as the "sunshine and laughter in everyone's lives" – died in hospital on Sunday, just hours after she was taken ill at her home in Kesteven Road, Stamford.
Speaking on behalf of Jade's family, her mother Debbie Stanjko led the tributes. She said: "Our darling Jade was taken from us as she was blossoming.
"She was a beautiful, unique, dignified, kind, fun, caring, loving and sensitive young lady, who we were all blessed to know and love.
"Words can never express our deep loss at this time. She will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her, and will live in our hearts and prayers forever."
She said Jade brought "sunshine and laughter" to everybody's lives.
Bereavement counsellors comforted Jade's devastated classmates at Queen Eleanor Technology College in Stamford after the tragic news was broken on Monday. Headteacher Neil Oxborrow conducted an assembly in her honour the following day.
He said: "The whole school is in a state of shock. Jade was a very bright, happy and clever girl with a bright future ahead of her.
"At the assembly, we likened the loss to that of one of our own relatives, and the thoughts and prayers of the whole school are with Jade's family."
Mr Oxborrow said the school would discuss a memorial for Jade with her family when they were ready.
Jade lived with her mother and stepfather, Steven, sister Katie, 16, and stepsisters Zoe, 16, and Jamie, 21. Her father, Keith, lives with Jade's stepmother Beverley Leeburn and third stepsister Tara, 16, in West Road, Oakham.
Jade's parents said she and her friends enjoyed fundraising for Children In Need, and have asked for wellwishers to contribute to the appeal in her memory.
Jade fell ill on Sunday and was taken to Peterborough District Hospital. She died that evening.
